The 901 Collection
The 901 Collection contains photos I intended to include in a travel-style coffee table book along with many poems and essays as love letters to the City of Memphis, Tennessee, my hometown.
It’s funny how we grow up dying to leave a place, yet can live most of our lives trying to get back.
When I visited Memphis in 2019 to shoot a photo series to capture the essence of locations that made me who I am today, I started at a lot of the obvious tourist spots like Beale Street and the Peabody Hotel, but then I found myself in the more intimate places of my past and came to realize the playgrounds of my childhood made the most impact on me.
The book’s prologue, “In the Age of Playgrounds”, will include a mini collection dedicated to a time of hide and seek, scraped knees, tight friendships, and how many of the lessons from that time in my life have carried into the present.
